The good news for getting there: Hongdae has its own airport-train station, which makes the trip from Incheon one of the simplest in the whole city.

Option 1: AREX All-Stop Train (Best Value)

The single best way to reach Hongdae is the AREX All-Stop train, which stops directly at Hongik University Station (홍대입구역) — with no transfers needed.

• Fare: roughly ₩4,150 from Terminal 1 and ₩4,950 from Terminal 2 — the standard transit fare, paid with a T-Money card or a single-journey ticket

Important: the faster AREX Express train does not stop at Hongdae — it runs nonstop to Seoul Station only. For Hongdae, always take the All-Stop service. It’s cheaper anyway.

Hongik University Station also sits on Subway Line 2 (the main circular line) and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line, so from here you can reach most of Seoul with a single transfer.

Option 2: Airport Bus 6002

Bus 6002 runs from Incheon Airport through the Sinchon and Hongdae area. It’s a good choice if you’re carrying a lot of luggage and would rather stay seated than move onto a train platform.

• Travel time: 70 to 100 minutes, depending on traffic
• Fare: around ₩10,000, paid at the ticket counter or kiosk before boarding (T-Money is not used for airport departures)
• Where to catch it: the bus platforms are just outside the arrivals exit — look for signs marked “Bus” or “공항버스”

Buses can be slower than the train during rush hour, but they keep you at street level, which some travelers prefer with big suitcases.

Option 3: Taxi

A taxi takes you door to door with no transfers — the easiest option if you’re tired, traveling as a group, or arriving late at night.
